Measles, Flu and COVID-19 Updates

Review these timely measles, flu and COVID-19 vaccination updates as you care for VNS Health members.

Measles: Watch for possible cases and vaccination gaps

Measles cases have more than tripled across New York State compared with last year, with cases also confirmed in New York City. NYC Health advises providers to remain vigilant and ensure patients are appropriately vaccinated against MMR. For patients with fever and rash, consider recent travel or known measles exposure. If measles is suspected, isolate the patient and report the case immediately to the NYC Health Department without waiting for laboratory confirmation.

Flu: Continue vaccination throughout the season

Routine annual flu vaccination remains recommended, and vaccination should continue while flu viruses are circulating. Review current CDC clinical considerations for vaccine selection and other patient-specific recommendations.

COVID-19: Review current guidance when discussing vaccination

CDC recommends a 2026–2027 COVID-19 vaccine for adults age 18 and older. Vaccine and dosing recommendations vary based on factors including age, vaccination history and immune status. Review current CDC guidance when making vaccination recommendations based on individual patient needs.
